A Music Bridge - Un Ponte Musicale

The Music Bridge is an exciting exchange project that took place between two music schools in Canada and Italy, during the time of the Olympic Games in Turin, Italy in February 2006 and here in Vancouver in November. The programme features five perfomers from the UBC School of Music in Vancouver and the Conservatorio .G.F. Ghedini. in Cuneo. From UBC: Erin James, violin; Alana Chang, violin, Chantal Lemire, viola. From Cuneo: Ferdinando Vietti, cello and Olga Tarasevich, piano. Featured works will be from the ensemble's final Vancouver concert on November 9 at St. Paul's Anglican Church downtown. You will hearing the gorgeous Brahms Piano Quintet in F-minor, Op.34, Schumann's passionate Fantasiestucke, Op.73 and Shostakovich's intense Cello Sonata, Op.40.
Pacific Spotlight winner Nikki Chooi, violin

Winner of the CBC Pacific Spotlight Competition, 17-year old violinist Nikki Chooi shines without needing much help from any spotlights! This concert features the young Victoria native in a concert recorded at the Victoria Conservatory in September 2006. Featured works are: Bach's Sonata No.1 in G minor, BWV 1001, the sublime Franck Sonata in A Major, and Waxman's Carmen Fantasy.
